ABOUT THE SESSION
Summer can quickly fill up with camps, tournaments, training, academic programs, and extracurricular opportunities. Yet not every activity contributes equally to a student-athlete’s long-term development and goals. A true summer of impact is not about doing more. It is about making thoughtful choices that support athletic growth, academic progress, and meaningful engagement beyond the field.
Lacrosse Masters presents College Masters to support families of high academic student athletes. In this parent-focused webinar, experienced college counselors and a former collegiate coach will provide a clear framework for thinking about summer decisions with perspective and intention. We’ll explore how coaches view camp participation, how academic preparation influences recruiting conversations, and how non-athletic interests and intellectual engagement still matter in selective college admissions.
Parents will leave understanding:
• What distinguishes a busy summer from a truly impactful one
• How coaches evaluate summer engagement and exposure opportunities
• How academic preparation strengthens–or limits–recruiting conversations
• Why non-athletic interests and leadership experiences still matter
• How rising 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders should prioritize differently
• How to make summer decisions that expand opportunity rather than narrow it
The goal is not to add pressure or complexity. It is to help families approach the summer months with clarity, confidence, and a thoughtful plan that strengthens the whole student and not just the athlete.
